Carlo Ancelotti: I Want To Coach Italy Or Ivory Coast

Carlo Ancelotti has his eyes set on international duty, but will it be Italy or the Ivory Coast...

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he would like to take the Italy job after his spell at San Siro. The coach has been at Milan since 2001 and, prior to that, had enjoyed spells with Juventus, Parma and Emilia-based side Reggiana.

There has been plenty of interest regarding Ancelotti and his future.
Recently he was linked with a return to Roma, where he played between 1979 and 1987, and he has even touted to become the next Manchester City manager in the British press..

However, the coach is unlikely to take charge at another club side as he has his eyes firmly set on international football.

"One day I would like to coach Italy," Ancelotti told Calcio 2000 magazine.

"Maybe it's because my career has taken a specific route; I coached Juve then Milan, so now it would be difficult to go and coach another team.

"At this point for me it would be the Italian national team."

The Italian national side could be an option, but the coach has a 'Plan B' lined-up if he fails to land the Azzurri job.

"A national team experience would be good and I have also spoken about coaching an African team," added the coach.

"There are plenty of great talents in Africa and it would be good to assemble many players in a squad in which the tactics are well defined.

"At the moment I would prefer to coach the Ivory Coast."

Milan Must Come First For Beckham - Carlo Ancelotti

Goldenballs has been told where his loyalties must lie, as he prepares for his first competitive showing as a Rossonero...

To most observers, the key reason behind David Beckham's short-term switch to AC Milan could scarcely be more obvious: to keep fit and stay in the frame for England selection. That, and because Posh was bored of LA.

And yet on the eve of Becks' Serie A debut, Carlo Ancelotti stressed that the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder would not merely be chasing a Three Lions spot during his San Siro stay.

"David Beckham is not here to prepare for England," the Milan coach said in The Daily Mail. "He is here to play for AC Milan and he will have as much playing time as he shows himself to be capable of while he is with us."

Prior to his loan move from Major League Soccer, there were strong suggestions that Beckham was nudged toward the Rossoneri by the club's former coach, Fabio Capello.

The England boss recently declared that he would only choose the 34-year-old if he was playing regular top-flight football - and that means more starts than late cameos.

But Ancelotti revealed yesterday that his new superstar recruit wouldn't make the first XI against Roma, and he has now made it plain that Don Fabio's wishes will have no bearing on his team selections.

He added, "If Fabio Capello wants information on Beckham then I will give him information. That's it."

Ancelotti Won’t Start Beckham

At the pre-match conference before tomorrow night’s big game, Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke about David Beckham and Roma.

Roma host Milan in Sunday evening's top Serie A game at the Stadio Olimpico. England midfielder David Beckham is included in Ancelotti's squad for the trip to the Italian capital.

Milan go into their first official game of the year nine points behind league leaders Inter Milan. Roma will have to do without injured captain Francesco Totti against the Rossoneri, but they will be hoping that the home crowd is enough to get the three points against the visitors.

Kaka will be back for Milan and Cristian Abbiati is also likely to feature in the capital following a slight injury. This will be a tough game that could determine the fate of both in terms of Scudetto aspirations for Milan and Champions League qualification for Roma.

At the press conference Ancelotti said, “Beckham is ready, but it is difficult to see him from the start. He comes into this game from two months of inactivity, but we are very happy with all that he has done at the camp in Dubai. The more I get to know him and his family, the more the gossip stories irritate me, because he is a great professional and a serious player.”

Ancelotti continued, “We are anxious to get started again. I want to know how much these days in Dubai have helped us. I think we are doing quite well, not fantastic, but we are in good condition to play this game. I am expecting a great deal from Milan in this second part of the season, not just against Roma. I want continuity.”

Ancelotti then added a few interesting words concerning Roma coach Luciano Spalletti and the fact that he has been linked with the tactician’s job due to the time he spent at the Giallorossi as a player.

“I like to be ironic, sometimes it is important to say something funny. I wished Spalletti sincere wishes for the Champions League, while the joke about him leaving the Roma bench to me was just humour.

"I consider Spalletti to be a friend and I hope he thinks the same way. I think that considering my history with the club, Roma is the only other club in Italy that I could coach,” said Ancelotti.

Spanish soccer giants Real Madrid will next week unveil AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager, Cadena Ser radio said Thursday.

According to the radio station, Ancelotti "has agreed to come on board for the coming season".

It added that Arsenal star Henry, who according to reports elsewhere is also a target for Barcelona, would likely follow, particularly if he can first complete his dream of leading the Gunners to the Champions League title.

Both Ancelotti and the French striker have unfinished business in Europe's premier club competition.

The nine-times European champions have been coached by former reserve coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro since Brazilian Wanderley Luxemburgo was fired mid-season but that move was intended only as a stop-gap solution.
