BREAKING NEWS: Milan Ready To Sell Kaka To Manchester City - Report
The back and forth insanity of this transfer saga continues, as it is now solely up to Kaka if he wishes to leave the club or not...
Milan are prepared to sell Kaka to Manchester City due to the size of the proposed transfer fee, according to Sky Sports News. The report concluded that it is now up to the former World Player of the Year to decide whether or not he wishes to make the move this month, in the summer or indeed at all.
The Brazilian's name has long been linked with City since their Sheikh Mansour backed takeover that transformed them into the richest club overnight at the beginning of September.
This week saw the possibility of Kaka at Eastlands a reality, as chief executive Garry Cook flew out to Milan to negotiate a deal. Reports emerged that they were unable to reach an agreement, and though Kaka has expressed an admiration for the Premier League, he has maintained that he is only willing to leave Milan if the club want him to go.
La Gazzetta dello Sport continued to speculate that a €100 million fee had been agreed and that it was now up to Kaka to decide his future.
Citizens boss Mark Hughes then held a press conference this morning insisting that, contrary to earlier reports, City had not withdrawn their interest in the player, but not commenting on the news that the club had instead turned their attention to a 'B-list' Serie A striker.
"It's been well documented that we've expressed an interest [in Kaka]," said Hughes.
"A number of people from our club went to Milan earlier in the week in order to get an understanding of the situation.
"To add more substance to that would be wrong, but as soon as we have news on any deals we'll reveal it.
"I'm always interested in good players and there's no time limit here."
Asked about the earlier reports of the withdrawn bid, Hughes scowled: "I saw that. You have to bear in mind that the kind of people involved in these reports don't represent the owners and shouldn't be given a platform."
Sky Sports News are now reporting just as Italian press had done earlier: that Milan have grudgingly agreed to sell Kaka and that the move is now totally in the hands of the Brazilian.
Meanwhile, Hughes refused to rule out still landing his other targets - Craig Bellamy, Scott Parker and Roque Santa Cruz - although he did admit that he'd like things to happen a little more quickly, with less than three weeks now remaining in the transfer window.
