Poll Results: Kaka Called Off Manchester City Deal?

In light of the claims from both AC Milan and Manchester City that they (respectively) cancelled the oft-rumoured Kaka transfer, we took this issue to the readers to find out what they thought.

In fact it seems that only a minority side with the two clubs in question, with most believing that it was the player himself who ended the deal.

Kaka: 63%
Silvio Berlusconi: 20%
Manchester City: 17%

Some of the reader comments were most illuminating. Maradona from Nairobi said:

"Looks like Kaka didn't want to leave, but the club was thinking about the astronomical sums of money like any club would do. In truth, this is a lesson for Kaka and maybe an eye opener into the mentality of a football club and the business of football."

Giovanni from Roma said that neither Kaka nor AC Milan were responsible:

"It's pretty clear to me that Man City pulled the plug on this deal. As much as they are rich and wanted to buy Kakà, there's a limit over which neither them are willing to go, especially because they would be held to ransom by anyone if they did not set some limits."

But Maher, an AC Milan fan from Beirut, Lebanon, said this:

"Ok guys let's be frank..it's definitely not Kaka who turned it down, as his own father and family were pushing him towards Man City..I think it's his wish to play for Real Madrid one day which prevented him from leaving now..but, sad to say, that that he's not going to be loyal to Milan any more and he will consider Real Madrid's offer in the future because Silvio was actually considering selling him but he was too greedy and wanted more money..Yet Kaka came out of this transfer saga as a hero and a loyal player..BUT I still love you Kaka and wish you the best.."
