Wenger: Kaka Made The Right Decision
Arsene Wenger has applauded Kaka's decision to remain at AC Milan.
Speaking to setanta.com, the Frenchman admitted Kaka’s decision was good for football, but conceded it was rare to see a player make such a choice.
“The good thing in the decision of Kaka is that he has put the sport in front of finances and that is good for the fans and the game,” explained Wenger. “But you will only have one case out of 20 like that.
“I know Kaka’s contract at AC Milan quite well and he is not in special need.”
Yet Wenger admitted that with seemingly limitless funds at their disposal, City would be able to bring in players for vastly inflated sums, but warned it would be to the detriment of the game.
“If a player goes from Real Madrid to Arsenal or the other way then it is always a sporting explanation.
“Manchester City will get where they want to get, but I ask, ‘Can our world go on like that?
“Suddenly, tomorrow someone buys Liverpool and says that they will pay players £10 million per month – what do you do?
“This puts too much inflationary pressure on people who can’t compete. It kills.”
Unlike City, Wenger is often reluctant to spend, preferring to trust his club’s young players, a policy which has sometimes led to frustration from the club’s fans.
However, the Frenchman again reiterated his desire to remain at the club and insisted he would not be tempted to move to another club where finances were not an issue.
“I am committed to this club and I believe I have shown this many times,” he said. “There is no question. If the club becomes tired of me then that is different. I am not tired of Arsenal.”
