Massimo Oddo: My Return To Milan Does Not Depend On Carlo Ancelotti

The World Cup winner is unsure where his future lies at the moment, however, he has stated that his destiny is not linked with the Milan head coach’s...

After a disappointing season with Milan in 2007-08, Massimo Oddo was sent on loan to Bayern Munich, deemed surplus to requirements at the San Siro after the arrival of Gianluca Zambrotta.

Some have speculated that his move was also due to a frosty relationship with coach Carlo Ancelotti but the former Lazio captain denies that was the case.

“My return to Milan does not depend on [Ancelotti’s] possible departure from the Rossoneri bench,” Oddo claimed to Radio Kiss Kiss. “I did not leave because of him.

"At times, there was little faith in me [when I was at Milan]. But a great club like Bayern believed in me and that is why I decided to leave.”

The 32-year-old commented on Milan's form in Serie A this season. “Perhaps they could have secured some more points,” he mused. “However, the real surprise is Inter; they have proven to be extremely compact and are not making many mistakes."

Oddo concluded by agreeing that the fans should get behind the Rossoneri and not whistle and jeer them during matches. The Italian was most recently involved in Bayern Munich's 5-0 thumping of Sporting Lisbon in their Champions League first-leg match-up.
