Ancelotti Praises Beckham's Intelligence
Beckham can play in almost every position in the midfield and do the job well according to his coach...
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has heaped high praise on David Beckham, insisting he is an "intelligent" player, and that he can play in Ronaldinho's position.
'Becks' is currently trying to shake off an ankle injury he picked up during Tuesday's training session. The England midfielder has been impressive since his arrival in January from the Los Angeles Galaxy. No-one has been left more impressed than his coach.
"I have been struck buy the player's intelligence. He [Beckham] is very intelligent and he has been able to put things right in midfield," Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia.
"He has been able to cover in every midfield role when we have had players missing.
"He was also able to play in the 'trequartista' role [Ronaldinho's position] as well as cover for [Gennaro] Gattuso and [Andrea] Pirlo.
"I had some perplexity over playing him in the 'trequartista' role, but he has managed well there because he is intelligent."
Milan take on Siena on Sunday afternoon, but there are doubts on whether or not Beckham will make it according to reports in Italy. In any case the midfielder faces a race against time to be fit for the game.
