Milan’s Christian Abbiati Angry Over Genoa Draw
The Rossoneri were held to a 1-1 draw by Genoa yesterday evening, throwing away what would have been a precious win as they conceded late on.
Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati could not believe his eyes last night as his team squandered a lead in the final minutes of their Serie A fixture against Genoa.
The Rossoneri now have 41 points in the standings as they interrupted their run of nine consecutive league wins.
"I'm angry because, even though the team did not play well in the second half, we had managed to hold on to the lead until the end and then Genoa found the equaliser," declared the former Juventus player.
"There is [a sense of] disappointment around this draw but we will have to start thinking straight away about the difficult away game we have on Sunday evening against Lazio.
"They will go into the game coming from two consecutive defeats and will want to redeem themselves."
Milan have now lost ground on Inter as they move back to eight points behind the league leaders, however, they still managed to reduce the gap on second placed Juventus, which now stands at just two points.
