Calcio Comedy: Adriano Galliani Confirms That Milan Are Moving To Brazil
Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has confirmed that the Rossoneri will be moving to Brazil, and will play their home games in Rio de Janeiro.
January is only 15 days old, but Milan have already found time to sign another two Brazilians. First Thiago Silva arrived from Fluminense and then, on Thursday, the Diavoli completed the capture of full back Felipe Mattioni from Gremio.
Milan now have seven Brazilians in their first team squad - the others being Dida, Emerson, Pato, Kaka and Ronaldinho. Then, of course, one must not forget Digao, who has been loaned out to Standard Liege, technical director Leonardo, as well as Cafu and Serginho, who only left the club last summer.
In yet another Brazilian transfer, Adriano Galliani has confirmed that Milan will be re-locating to Brazil.
“I can announce with great pleasure,” stated ‘Uncle Fester’, “that from tomorrow we will be moving to Rio de Janeiro.
“We want to become as Brazilian as possible, and this will be another step on this journey.
“Our new ground will be the Maracana Stadium, while we are changing the colours on our strip from black-and-red to yellow-and-green. From now on, we will be known as the ‘Gialloverdi’.”
Milan will continue to play in Serie A until the end of the current campaign. However, from the start of next season, the world’s most successful international club will be admitted to the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, where they will compete against the cream of Brazilian football, such as Flamengo, Sao Paulo and Santos.
“Milan are the most prestigious club team in the world,” continued Galliani.
“Now we aim to win many more trophies in the most prestigious and most successful footballing nation.”
Not wanting to be undone by their bitter rivals, Inter are now also considering moving to South America, thus leaving open the mouth-watering prospect of the two sides meeting each other in the Copa Libertadores.
“We want to move to South America too, but not just one specific country” explained Nerazzurri top-dog Massimo Moratti.
“Six of our squad are Argentinean, so we want to play January to April in the Argentine League. Six are also Brazilian, so we hope to then move to Brazil from May until September.
“The remainder of the year we will split our time between Colombia and Chile.”
A few Milanese players have expressed concerns about moving back to South America though. Ivan Cordoba and Nicolas Burdisso are worried that they may be enticed back into revolutionary activity. Meanwhile, Emerson is reluctant to travel, as he is still wanted by Rio police for robbing a grocery store back in 1950.
