Gremio Confirm Mattioni To Milan

Brazilian club Gremio have confirmed that defender Felipe Mattioni is a Milan player as they echo his agent's comments from late last night.

The defender has long been linked with a move to the Rossoneri, and the Milanese side beat off stiff competition from both Inter and Juventus to land their man.

Milan have yet to confirm the deal as being official, but Gremio have done their bit to announce the player is no longer theirs.

A statement on the club's official website reads:

"Felipe Mattioni is a Milan player and he will be for the next four and a half years."

Late on Wednesday night, Italian newsagency ANSA had the deal as being official after Mattioni's agent Mino Railoa revealed the player had signed a deal with the San Siro club.

Gremio were reluctant to reveal any details regarding the transfer, but reports in Italy claim the Rossoneri paid the Brazilian outfit around €6 million for the player's rights.

Unlike Thiago Silva, Mattioni has a European Union passport and thus he will be eligible to play for Milan straight away. The only thing missing is the confirmation from the Italian side which is yet to filter through.
