Milan Boss Carlo Ancelotti Gloats At Jose Mourinho’s European Fiasco

Posted on 9:43 PM by Unknown

The Rossoneri tactician has confirmed Mourinho’s worst fears; many Italians are delighted that Inter have been eliminated from the Champions League..

Inter crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Manchester United on Wednesday and Jose Mourinho, instead of focussing on his team’s shortcomings, launched yet another attack on Italian football after the match, claiming that the entire country would be pleased with their elimination.

“If he is really certain of this, he should ask himself why the whole of Italy would be happy with their exit,” Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti told the Corriere della Sera.

“However, there is no doubt that some people were indeed glad, it’s only normal… The same thing happened when Milan were knocked out of the Champions League.

“It’s expected, even though there is not much sportsmanship in there.”

Italian sides have once again flopped in Europe’s premier club competition this term. Milan vice president Adriano Galliani warned yesterday that the economic crisis has severely hit Serie A’s elite and the gap to foreign clubs could get even bigger.

“I don’t know about that,” mused ‘Carletto’. “I think that the ties were somewhat balanced but the English teams are indeed showing something more than us and not just from an economic point of view.

“For example, Manchester [United] are a young side that are built to last for a long time. If they win the Champions League, I will personally give [Sir Alex] Ferguson a crate of Guidalberto, an excellent Tuscan wine…”

Ancelotti gave the United manager a bottle of wine after Milan triumphed 3-0 in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final in 2007.
