LA Galaxy Chief: Milan Can Forget David Beckham
Galaxy CEO Tim Leiweke has issued a stark hands-off warning to the Rossoneri and insisted that Becks will return to California when his loan deal with Milan ends.
Milan are apparently weighing up the possibility of turning David Beckham’s loan deal into a permanent move, as the England international seems to have settled down quickly in Italy’s fashion capital.
‘Golden Balls’ is expected to return to the Los Angeles Galaxy on March 8 ahead of the start of the MLS season, but Milan general manager Adriano Galliani revealed last week that the Italian club are prepared to pay a fee in order to extend the midfielder’s stay in Lombardy.
“David is under contract with the Galaxy and he assured me before leaving for Milan that he was very happy to stay here with us,” chief executive Tim Leiweke is quoted as saying on Sportal.it.
“He demanded a stronger squad and we have made important investments to satisfy him. He has no interest in departing.
“We have a deal, we shook hands and his children go to school here. That’s it, there are no other stories and there is no room for other things. He must come back.”
Becks netted his second Serie A goal with a trademark free kick last night as Milan were held 1-1 by Genoa at the San Siro.
